Timothy Internship Program

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS THE TIMOTHY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM?

The Timothy Internship Program (TIP) is a practical, hands-on boot camp built on a foundation of true discipleship principles, apostolic team, and personal accountability. What you learn in TIP cannot be learned merely from a textbook or a classroom setting. This program puts you on the front-lines of missions life while teaching you important and necessary skill-sets to be an effective missionary. What makes our training unique, is that it has been developed by veteran missionaries for missionaries

WHO CAN ATTEND THE INTERNSHIP?

The Timothy Internship Program is the 2nd step in Go To Nations comprehensive, missionary Equipping Track and is a requirement for all of our full-time missionaries to attend. Go To Nations also extends this program to those who desire to explore missions in a deeper way, and for those needing to complete an overseas field school for their education requirements.

WHAT REQUIREMENTS ARE THERE TO ATTEND?

You must be 20 years old or older to apply for an internship. In addition, you must submit to a background check and complete the application process which includes gathering references to complete a recommendation on your behalf. Interns must also meet the deadlines given to each intern team so that advanced preparations may be made. A detailed checklist is provided along with the application to assist with quick and easy completion.

WHERE IS THE TRAINING HELD?

The Timothy Internship Program is conducted in a variety of nations around the world where there is an established missionary team with leaders in place to conduct the training. Locations available at this time include Cyprus, Honduras, Kenya, and Thailand. For specific opportunities with dates and locations, please visit gotonations.org/tip.

CAN I CHOOSE MY TRAINING LOCATION?

Go To Nations does its best to send you to a location or region of the world that you desire. However, internship teams are limited and filled on a first come, first served basis based on who has completed their requirements and met their funding deadlines. Training locations are also dependent upon leadership availability and the guidelines of the hosting nation. Please note that things are subject to change that may be outside of the control of Go To Nations.

HOW LONG IS THE PROGRAM?

The Timothy Internship last for 10.5 weeks.

Families with children 16 years and older can go through the Timothy Internship Program along with their parents. Younger children may be homeschooled, if needed, with the parents taking turns with their tutoring needs. Depending upon the location and availability, a nanny may be an option for an additional cost.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Interns will be staying in dormitory or small apartment housing. Singles should be prepared to have one or more roommates. Married couples will have their own room. Training modules are taught by a variety of instructors in a classroom setting with a lecture style including discussions, interviews, and outreaches for practical application and hands-on ministry. There are pre-reading requirements and books that you will need to bring with you. Additional specifics will be provided before departure in the Timothy Internship Handbook.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR POSTPONE?

If at any time you choose not to attend the Timothy Internship Program, all funds received by Go To Nations toward your program fee will be forfeited to Go To Nations due to IRS regulations for non-profit organizations receiving tax-deductible donations. If you desire to reschedule for another Timothy Internship Program, your funds will be held for one year.
