Serving In: Africa

Gary grew up outside of Fairhope, Alabama on Mobile Bay. He became a believer in Jesus Christ at the age of thirty two and married his wife, Carol, two years later. Unfortunately, after 31 years of marriage, Carol went home to be with Jesus. In September, 2017, Gary enrolled in Charis Bible College of Colorado. Six months into his studies, Gary read John 10:16 which says, “I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.”  With this scripture, Gary received his call to missions. By September of the following year, Gary knew that the Lord’s plan for him was to go to Africa.

During his third year at Charis Bible College, Dr. Jerry Williamson, president of Go To Nations, came to teach a course on the Great Commission Church. During that training, Dr. Jerry taught on the 10:40 Window which highlights the area of the world that remains greatly unreached with the gospel. By the end of the training, Gary knew that God was calling him to serve within that window. Four months later, God had confirmed that he was called to serve in Sudan and had begun to knit his heart to the Sudanese people.

Gary has completed the Go To Nations Equipping Track which begins with the Missionary Preparation and Orientation training he completed in June, 2020. He then graduated from the 10.5 week Timothy Internship Program in Honduras, November of 2020. Then he went on to complete a two-year Missionary Apprenticeship, July 2023. Gary is now fully equipped and prepared to serve in Africa long-term. He is also certified in aquaponics through Go To Nations Relief and Development Arm, GloDev, Inc. and completed this training at Eden Gardens Farm in Jacksonville, Florida, January, 2024.
