THE DAY WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR
When I first introduced Baptism to 15 year old Kwan Khao in January of this year, she was skeptical. It would mean giving up the belief system and temple community she had known her whole life. It meant sacrificing generations of traditions and facing persecution from relatives, teachers, neighbors, and school friends. She just wasn't ready yet but as she grew in her relationship with Jesus, her heart opened. She saw thought His uncontainable love and faithfulness in her life that Jesus was the only God she wanted to follow. She was ready but her mother was still against it because she is still young. She wanted Kwan Khao to wait until she was 18. When Kwan Khao asked what she should do, I told Kwan Khao to keep honoring her mother, to wait and to pray.
Kwan Khao began to pray that Jesus would open her mother's heart and allow her to be baptized. Every couple of weeks Kwan Khao would update me with "Mom is 10% open." Then a week or two later, "Mom is 25% open!" She consistently praised the Lord for her mother's opening heart and honored her. Each week seeing her openness increasing 5-10% until...
In May, Kwan Khao received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. After being baptized in fire and learning the power of praying in tongues, she began to included it in her prayers for her mother. Her daily encounters with Holy Spirit in the Word of God breathed greater fire in her heart for the Lord.
Later that same week she received the breakthrough she had been praying for! Her mother told her she could be baptized! We were both so excited and praised God for winning victory for her!
On June 10th 2023, as her mother, sister, and our Nang Lae Family watched, Kwan Khao committed to follow Jesus publicly by being baptized in water along with one of my teammate's disciples. Since her baptism she has been unshakeable in her devotion to Jesus, even facing increased persecution at school. Please continue to call in more like her to the Kingdom of God!
