CREATING DISCIPLE MAKING MOVEMENTS

CREATING DISCIPLE MAKING MOVEMENTS

Alone in the hotel room, I awoke with excruciating pain in my neck and back. Where am I? What is the source of this pain?

What followed was a desperate night of prayer, crying out to God for breakthrough. I couldn’t lie back down or roll over in bed without cradling my head in my arms. This was the first night in Hua Hin, the second of our
Disciples Making Disciples church planter training events in Thailand.

One of my devotionals that week included the story of Jesus asleep in the boat while a storm raged (Mark 4:38). Sometimes when the storms come it appears that God is not doing anything. He does not seem to be answering prayers or even listening. In times like this, faith is being tested. Eventually, Jesus did calm the storm. He addresses the power behind the storms with relaxed authority: “Quiet! Be still!" (v.39), showing he is Lord over nature.

For the disciples, the passage starts with fear and ends with faith. I've learned that a crisis can test your faith. Jesus wants you to learn to conquer your fears and trust him even in the middle of the storms of life. As for me, after some hours of spiritual warfare I finally got some sleep but I had to contend all day with pain and my frozen neck.

Later that evening as I prayed, I got the breakthrough. The presence of Jesus filled the room and the pain and stiffness dissipated. Jesus had rebuked the storm!

A.W. Tozer says, "Those who see God as small limit what He can do. Those who see God as big expect the impossible."

Hua Hin Training, February 2026

Disciples Making Disciples Church Planter Seminars

This trip was quite difficult, with the greatest spiritual warfare any of our teams have encountered. Everyone battled with sickness at some point. One member of the team, Audra, had her purse stolen by monkeys (It’s true!) and she lost all her personal money. She and another teammate, Andrew, did recover their passports which were in the purse, but they were chewed on by the monkeys.  This required a trip back to Bangkok to get replacements. We had to overcome some team strife as well. But God!

The focus, power, and anointing increased with each of the three trainings. In Chiang Rai, the last of the three seminar, it was as if we’d hit our “runners stride” for the very first time. Those on the team are developing into not only good trainers, but also ministry practitioners.

On the second day in Chiang Rai, Pastor Suphot stood up and testified,
“I was in a class with Pastor Victor 3 years ago, but the material didn’t register in my heart.  The manual ended up buried in a desk drawer. This time I won’t let that happen! I know this is the answer to reaching our region for Jesus! With Victor’s encouragementI, I’ve brought some new believers to this training and they are very excited that they have been called by Jesus to be disciples and to make disciples. This training has answered our questions about how to move past evangelism to disciple-making and then to effective church planting. We will reach every community in our district using these tools and strategies!”

Taking Jesus to the Streets
Every one of our seminars includes practice for every tool and module, including sharing Christ with the lost in the community.

  • Prayer Requests:

    • For lasting fruit in every new discipleship group and simple church.

    • That each pastor and leader who was trained will be good soil, and obedient to the revealed word and the Great Commission.

    • As a result, that 10 new church plants be launched in unreached villages in the coming months.

    • For the two short-term teams going out to Thailand this summer assisting these church planting teams in pioneer evangelism in new unreached villages.

    • For new volunteers and financial partners on the Jacksonville team to be developed.

    • That God’s Kingdom come and His will be done in every village of Thailand!
