A SIMPLE U-TURN: PART 1
Mae Da and Paw Ai
A few weeks ago, I was driving through Mae Khao Tom with an earbud in one ear listening to worship music and praying that God would lead me and that He would draw people unto Himself. I then noticed this couple riding a little electric scooter. Something about them instantly stuck out to me. Though I couldn't explain it, I felt like it was the Lord. They were actually driving in the opposite direction, so I checked my mirrors and then did a quick u-turn. I didn't know where they were going, nor where they would stop, but I decided I'd try to follow them as inconspicuously as possible. Maybe 20 seconds later, they stopped on the side of the road, and the husband got off the scooter and picked up a glass bottle and put it in the plastic bag he was carrying.
I didn't know how I would approach them or what I would say, but I parked my bike and walked up to them. Pulling on the strength I had received from the Lord while I had been worshipping and praying, I told the man that I had a message I wanted to share with him. I simply said that I saw them while I was driving and wanted to come tell them that Jesus came to set us free from karma (a buddhist belief that keeps people trapped in a cycle of suffering, death, and reincarnation).
As I continued to talk more about Jesus, the wife spoke up, and asked, "Oh, you're talking about Jesus, right? I know about Jesus." She went on to tell me that she grew up a Christian, but had not been to church in many years. She told me that she even sometimes would try to pray but that she could not remember how to pray and could not really remember Jesus' teachings either. She went on to say something like, "Jesus is still in my heart though. I can't forget him."
Since then, I have visited them at their home and prayed for them. Mae Da (the wife) agreed to having me begin coming to read the Bible and pray with her soon. Please pray for us and also for her husband, Paw Ai, that God will draw their hearts to Him and bring His life and restoration into their lives.
